POUND
Dialogue: Pound the pavement = looking for a job
일자리를 찾아 돌아다니다
Common definition:
(VERB) - To hit with great force; To beat hard: Pound the nail in with a hammer!
Nervous/anxious = My heart pounded!
(동사): 큰 힘, 압력으로 때리다; 마구 치다: 망치로 못을 세게 때리다!
떨리다, 설레다 = 심장이 터질 것 같아!
(NOUN) - Unit of weight (1 pound=448 grams; 1 kg=2.2 pounds); British currency

• Pound something into someone
= ~에게 강요하다, 억압하다, 제압하다.
• To teach something forcefully and repeatedly!
= 어떤 것을 강력하게 지속적으로 가르치다.
• To force information into someone
= 어떤 내용을 누구에게 억지스럽게 가르치다.
• When I was young, my parents pounded it into my head never to talk to strangers.
= 부모님께서 절대로 모르는 사람에게 대화를 하지 말라고 내가 어렸을 때부터 강력히 강조하셨다.
• Jooch has a difficult time learning English, so I have to pound it into his head!
= Jooch는 영어를 배우는게 너무 힘들어서 머리에 자꾸 입력시켜야 한다
(머릿속에 박히도록 복습을 많이 해야 한다.)
• An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
= 1 온스의 예방은 1파운드의 치료 가치를 가진다.
• It is better to avoid problems in the first place, rather than trying to fix them once they arise.
= 문제가 일어난 후에 상황을 처리하는 것보다 처음부터 문제가 생기지 않도록 예방하는 것이 좋다.
• If you make a little effort to prevent a problem, you will not have to work hard to solve the problem.
= 조금씩 문제 예방을 하면, 나중에 문제를 고치는데 어려움은 없을 것이다.
Example: Brush your teeth every day! That way you won't have to go to the dentist to have cavities filled. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
예) 매일 이를 닦으세요. 그래야 치과에 가서 치아를 고칠 필요가 없죠. 작은 예방은 큰 문제의 치료비가 된다.

• Pound the pavement = To walk through the streets looking for work (Hit the streets)
= 일자리를 찾아 돌아다니다/길을 걷다.
Examples:

- For five days Susan pounded the pavement to raise money for the orphans.
- We pounded the pavement hoping to share a message about our religious faith.
예) 일을 찾으러 두달 동안 거리를 돌아다니면서 일을 찾으려고 했다.

when a dog gets lost or is homeless, it is taken to place called a Dog Pound.
And both pounds are operated by the government.
